Mark Bolwell

Production/Technical Manager
Coming from a career in Performing Arts I have 15 years experience within the Arts & Entertainment trade with expert knowledge of Event & Show Production and Technical Management. I am a hard working professional artist, technician and manager. I am an articulate, confident and a persuasive team-builder, able to motivate and communicate to achieve exceptional levels of quality. I am dependable and reliable, with a persistent yet flexible approach to the achievement of a projects goal. My main interests lie in Event Production & Digital media and I am currently developing this within Spectral Arts.

Julia Behrens
Art in Education
Co-ordinator & Lead Artist
Julia is one of the founder member’s and art education co coordinator for Spectral Arts. With a history of fine art training and sculpture, she specialises in using recycled materials in art project, costume making and sculpture builds.
Julia Behrens is also a practising Medical Herbalist with a degree in Herbal Medicine and a Diploma in therapeutic massage. She has published works about the conservation of medicinal plants with the European Journal of Herbal Medicine, WWF and Plantlife. As well as practising in Brighton she also set up Hedgehog Herbs a community herb garden and runs short courses in herbal medicine. She also runs a number of short courses in herbal medicine.

Ellie Behrens
Creative Development &
Lead Artist
Co-founder of Spectral Arts I have successfully coordinated and managed arts projects for the past 15 years. I studied art at Middlesex University and then went on to study graphic illustration at Brighton University.
After my studies I set up a performance company and designed and created successful ultraviolet stage shows which I performed across the UK and Europe for 7 years. This has given me a wealth of experience in all areas of production and the performing arts. Alongside supporting the well being of the group I was also responsible for creating costumes, make up, props and designing and making many large puppets.
Passionate about giving others the opportunity to explore and fulfil their own creative potential. I am skilled in developing and delivering projects and workshops with people of all ages and abilities. Workshops that are always fun and engaging!
My role in Spectral Arts is as a creative lead, setting-up and devising ideas for projects and workshops, which include fashion, costume design, sculpture, performance and a wide range of arts and craft activity. I am also skilled in training and facilitating others to run a wide range of workshops.

Matthew Minns

Co-founder of Spectral Arts I am committed to improving opportunities for both young people and disadvantaged groups through not-for-profit and voluntary work initiatives. I also work as a research consultant specialising in public and social policy and for the voluntary and community sectors.
My professional experience in research and evaluation, alongside my passion for arts-based practice within the community and schools, complement each other and bridge the divide between arts, education and research. Many of my research and evaluation projects have been based in schools, amongst staff, children and young people or amongst organisations that support the education sector.
As an experienced researcher, evaluator and arts practitioner I have designed and led hundreds of groups and workshops, for both government departments and arts projects. I am familiar with the issues faced when working within the school context and amongst teaching staff and very sensitive audiences, as well as with the relevant education and social policy initiatives. I have enhanced CRB disclosure.
